*BEEP*
You're reached Hank McCoy. I'm not available at the moment, so leave a message. I shall endeavor to respond as soon as is feasible.
*BEEP*
Okay, so it turns out that my dad doesn't have lymphoma after all (thank the gods!). It just took a long, LONG time for the final results to come in. What he does have is a rare inflammatory autoimmune disease that, while by no means life-threatening, leaves and will continue to leave him very fatigued. But it's better than cancer. ::whew:: In other news, I'm insanely busy getting ready for my move to Raleigh, NC the first week of January. So don't expect Hank (or coffeesmith) back until at least the end the January. Thanks for the thoughts and support, everyone, and I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Merry Solstice, Happy New Year, Happy Kwanzaa and a generally good time!
I really, really hate to do this, since I've loved playing in Fandom High, but I'm going to have to put Hank on indefinite hiatus. In addition to my job hunt, previously mentioned, I just found out that my father has lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system). We're not sure yet how extensive it is, but I just can't concentrate on anything extra at the moment.
Everyone, I've loved playing with you, especially Zero, Han and Veronica, but I just can't do it anymore right now.
Farewell 'til next we meet.
My apologies, but don't expect Hank to be extremely active for the next few weeks. I'm looking for a new job, including some out of state prospects, and my concentration is focussed on that.
In other, unrelated news, Wizard World is coming the my area this weekend and, among others, Samwise Gamgee and River Tam are going to be there! Mon, Oct. 24th, 2005, 12:40 pm
(OOC: I'm back for good! My glasses were delayed until yesterday, but I have them and I can SEEEEEE!!!!!)
I missed having a nice soft bed to sleep in. It really is unfortunate that I need to review my Biology material before class tomorrow; I forgot so much while I was gone.
My new glasses aren't coming in until Thursday, but I couldn't stay away from FH that long, so I'm coming back in. Hank has been on a little adventure the past few days and maybe, just maybe, he might share bits of it with you. Yes, this means that I've started writing a fanfic about Hank's trip through locker 327. Or 347. Whichever. EDIT: For those interested, Hank's story has begun. Tue, Oct. 11th, 2005, 07:46 pm OOC
I'm going to be erratic or outright gone for I don't know how long, as my glasses broke and I'm almost totally blind without them.
EDIT: Okay, I should have my new glasses in on Thursday of next week. I'll try to do some minimum participation (attend classes and the like) in the meantime, but please don't expect me to get involved in much else. Mon, Oct. 10th, 2005, 07:37 pm Headachey
::groggily wakes up with a mouth like cotton, still dressed in costume from Homecoming::
Okay, I have no idea what went into the punch at Homecoming, but it clashed HARD with my biochemistry. I take it that the experiments caused some changes more subtle than I realized.
::glances at the partly open door::
Shit. I'll need to do a gremlin sweep, won't I? Fri, Oct. 7th, 2005, 07:39 am Mid-afternoon
Hank leaves his room wearing long, rumpled jeans (do you have any idea how hard it is to wrinkle jeans?), this shirt, a knit wool cap and sunglasses. He heads for the Homecoming fair. Fri, Oct. 7th, 2005, 07:16 am
Son. Of. A. Bitch. Do you remember that potion that regrew invisible fur? The invisibility is spreading. The skin on my entire left leg is now visible. ::sigh:: It looks like the long pants are here to stay. The weather is turning cooler anyway.
Thu, Oct. 6th, 2005, 12:36 am Fur problems
Well isn't this just glorious. DEATH was kind enough to get me a potion to regrow the fur that was burned off Monday night, and I thank him for it. But I should have paid more heed to the uncertainty factor. True, my fur grew back, but it's invisible. I can feel it when I brush it, I'm not cold there anymore, but it still looks like bare, royal blue skin! Sat, Oct. 1st, 2005, 06:55 pm OOC
My shoulder's acting up, so I'm not going to be around much tomorrow, and maybe not on Monday either. This isn't anything serious, so don't worry, but I need to let it rest. Enjoy the weekend! Wed, Sep. 28th, 2005, 08:25 pm OOC
Thunderstorms are threatening my area and my cable connection may go wonky at any time. I've already been having problems since yesterday, so forgive me for any lack of response.
The Uncertainty PrincipleAt atomic and subatomic levels, the only method of measurement consists of "contact" between "materials" of roughly equivalent sizes. To utilize an analogy, imagine that the particles are beachballs. You're holding one in your hands and using it to measure by bouncing it off the other beachball. If it solidly hits another beachball, you know where it is/was, but you've changed how fast it's moving and in which direction. On the other hand, if your beachball only grazes the other one, you know how fast it was going and in which direction, but it has since moved to a different location. In essence, at atomic and subatomic levels, observing a particle or action truly does change it, but you can never know which piece of data was changed.

Ow.
The last thing I remember before waking up this morning is offering my bodyguard services to Phoebe during the weapons distribution on Friday night. I presume that I was rendered unconscious at some point and returned to my dormitory domicile, but I'm under the assumption that I could have been of help during the rest of the zombie invasion.
I need to discover how my friends fared. Fri, Sep. 23rd, 2005, 02:49 pm
My fur itches. All of it. ::grump:: ::madly scratches:: Damn.

I *may* be randomly offline this weekend; I'm on the west edge of where Rita could sweep through Texas and even if it doesn't hit us dead-on, we're gonna be getting a lot of thunderstorms. I'll be on as/when I can, however.
Have a safe weekend, all! Thu, Sep. 22nd, 2005, 12:24 pm
This school is insane. My Computer Science and Vulcan Philosophy teachers seem to have joined the ranks of disappeared teachers and most other classes are already closed. Thank goodness Ms. Sidle is still here, otherwise I'd have no courses.
Maybe I should investigate Mr. Slartibartfast's cooking class. |
